THE HOUSE CUP

At John Therry Catholic College, students have an incredibly strong sense of pride in their House. The four Houses at John Therry are: Chisholm (Blue), Conolly (Green), Murray (Yellow) and Ryan (Red).

The House Cup is awarded annually at the end of Term 3 (as part of the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony).  The winning House is deemed to be that which has accumulated the most points over the preceding twelve months. One key feature that distinguishes our College from other Colleges is that we focus on five areas of College life: Spiritual, Academic, College Life & Learning, Social and Sporting. As such, students can earn points towards the House Cup from their participation in one or more of the above areas.

The simplest way a student can earn points for their House is through the College merit system. Students are awarded a positive Compass entry by staff for a number of different reasons (for example: conduct, academic rigour, consistent good behaviour). House points are awarded for each positive Compass entry.

There are many other means for students to earn points for their House. These include: attendance and participation at College carnivals or being part of a College representative sporting team as well as participation or representation in the large array of social and extracurricular events on offer.
